The base out of pocket cost for an eye exam is $100. Contact lens fittings are an additional $40-$75. If you have certain medical diagnoses that require further documentation or testing, it is an additional $20-$35.
The insurance plans we are fully out of network with are any form of Medicaid (Tenncare, Bluecare, Wellpoint, etc.), Tricare, and SOME BCBS or Aetna plans. If you have any of these plans but still wish to be seen, you are welcome to pay out of pocket and receive an itemized receipt so you can file for reimbursement. If you have any further questions about your particular insurance plan, please call our Memphis or Jackson office!
We accept cash, check, credit/debit card, care credit and tap-to-pay.
It is always best to make an appointment to ensure you will be seen in a timely manner, however we do take walk-in and same-day appointments as the schedule permits.
We do our best to have your exam finished approximately an hour after your scheduled appointment time.
In the state of Tennessee, your prescriptions are valid for 1 year from the date of service.

While we cannot make a solid guarantee, we offer retinal photos to provide us with a better and wider view of the health of your eye. These photos can significantly reduce the amount of patients we need to dilate.
Retinal imaging captures an unrivaled 200° view of the retina to detect a range of eye conditions. These images allow your doctor to assess the health of the back of your eye, as well as track changes over time. Without them, it can take longer to catch certain diagnoses.
The "puff of air" is actually what we call Non-Contact Tonometry (NCT). The NCT measures the pressure inside your eye, or intraocular pressure (IOP). The machine directs a puff of air directly to your cornea and measures the force it takes to gently flatten your cornea. There is a healthy range in which your IOP should sit, anything above or below this range can be a sign of a medical condition and have potential long-term negative affects on your quality of vision.
Contact lenses are a wonderful addition to glasses, but not everyone is a good candidate. You would first need to talk to your doctor about whether contact lenses are a good option for you. Your doctor can then determine the prescription and type of contact lenses they recommend based on your prescription, lifestyle, and eye health. This process is called a contact lens fitting. Once your doctor has your prescription, you will go through an Insertion & Removal class, where a technician teaches you how to properly wear and care for your contact lenses.
An eye exam consists of a series of tests in order to check the health of your eyes and a refraction to determine your best corrected vision with eyeglasses. A contact lens fitting describes the process in which an optometrist transposes your eyeglasses prescription into a contact lens prescription based on your vision and the curvature of your eye, and determines which brand and modality will work best for you on a daily basis.
Contact lens supplies must be ordered and may take a minimum of 7 business days to arrive.
