Angel Eyes Vision LOVES your eyes. Your sight and eye health are important to us because your vision is one of the primary ways you interact with the world. This year, on October 9th, we invite you to celebrate your eyes with us for World Sight Day! World Sight Day is showcased by Orbis, an international nonprofit organization with a focus on eye care where it is less accessible; World Sight Day allows the eye care community to raise awareness for vision loss prevention. This year, Angel Eyes Vision wants to highlight Orbis and their impact on global sight.
Orbis and the Rwanda International Institute of Ophthalmology (RIIO) started their partnership in 2016 to raise awareness and establish solutions to the preventable vision-loss crisis in Rwanda. Orbis’s latest mission sent them to Kigali, Rwanda in their signature Flying Eye Hospital. The MD-10 aircraft, donated by Memphis' very own FedEx, provides a training ground for eye care professionals in underserved communities to learn and perform sight-saving procedures like cataract surgery, pediatric strabismus surgery, and oculoplastic operations. After two weeks of virtual and hands-on training, the RIIO received all the virtual reality training equipment used at the Flying Eye Hospital to ensure continual eye care for the community for generations to come.
Orbis is using their platform this year to tell the stories of people they have helped love their eyes! Click below to learn more about the people benefiting from Orbis’ tireless efforts to end avoidable vision loss and total blindness.
Angel Eyes Vision cares about Orbis deeply and we want to support their efforts in any way we can. This year we have started a fundraiser for the month of October. Click below to donate towards our goal!
